IK-Group were contracted by Allseas in connection with a planned recovery operation in the UK North Sea of a wellhead protection structure with 4 soil anchors/cans.
To lift off the protection structure, 4 cans were pumped out of the seabed through 4 connecting hoses that was attached onto the cans by 4 connector plugs. IK provided the drill tool and manifold station with a hydraulicly operated pumping unit, connector setting tool along with male/female connectors and the hoses for offshore operation.
The equipment, designed and delivered by IK, was developed from the tendering phase to the delivery in just two months.
The IK team was on board the Oceanic Vessel to control the operations involving the IK equipment and to assist during the execution. The offshore operation was performed in shallow waters with very limited visibility.
After the successful offshore operation, which went according to schedule, the wellhead protection structure was lifted off. This was IK’s first recovery operation of a soil anchor – a fantastic achievement.
Throughout this project IK had a very strong working relationship with the Allseas engineering team and offshore team; starting from the engineering phase until the successfully completed operation.
See below picture of the structure during the lifting operation & the structure on deck.
