IK-Group was contracted by Allseas in connection with a planned recovery operation in the UK North Sea of a wellhead protection structure with four soil anchors/cans.
To lift off the protection structure, four cans were pumped out of the seabed through connecting hoses. IK-Group provided the drill tool and manifold station with a hydraulicly operated pumping unit and connector setting tool along with male/female connectors and the hoses for offshore operation.
The equipment, which was designed and delivered by IK-Group, was developed from tendering phase through to delivery in just two months.
The IK team was onboard the oceanic vessel to control the operations involving IK-Group equipment and to assist during the execution. The offshore operation was performed in shallow waters with very limited visibility.
After the successful offshore operation, which went according to schedule, the wellhead protection structure was lifted off. This was IK-Group's first recovery operation of a soil anchor – a fantastic achievement.
Throughout this project IK-Group maintained a strong working relationship with the Allseas engineering and offshore teams.
See below picture of the structure during the lifting operation and then on deck.
